Architecture 2030

Roy Prince Architect has adopted the Architecture 2030 Challenge.
We are committed to projects that meet or exceed the Architecture 2030 Challenge benchmarks to reduce fossil fuel use.

We design additions, remodels and small new homes that are energy efficient, healthy and elegantly simple.

We consult with individuals, green builders and architects on issues of site and building design, structural systems and materials, heating, cooling and ventilation, solar and energy efficiency, and green and healthy building processes and materials.

Roy Prince Architect is an architectural design studio and environmental consultancy dedicated to green architecture and high performance, environmentally inspired green homes and commercial buildings. Permaculture ethics and principles inspire our work.

We design green remodels, additions & small new homes and consult with home owners, contractors, developers and architects on green and environmental design, and green and healthy building materials - using green design principles and healthy and resource efficient building materials and information.

We employ state of the art structural, insulating, heating and cooling systems that are earth & people friendly as well as economically viable. Incorporating solar energy is an important part of our design methodology.

Our goal is to combine client needs and wants and sustainable design principles using green materials and processes to create beautiful and healthy homes that are sensitive to the environment.

Ed Mazria, founder of the Architecture 2030 Challenge and a Santa Fe based architect who is always ahead of the curve, has called the global architecture and building community to act:

"That all new buildings and developments be designed to use 1/2 the fossil fuel energy they would typically consume (1/2 the country average for that building type).

That at a minimum, an equal amount of existing building area be renovated annually to use 1/2 the amount of fossil fuel energy they are currently consuming (through design, purchase of renewable energy and/or the application of renewable technologies).

That the fossil fuel reduction standard for all new buildings be increased to:
60% in 2010, 70% in 2015, 80% in 2020, 90% in 2025 and Carbon-neutral by 2030 (using no fossil fuel GHG emitting energy to operate)."
